Taqman target gene and sybr green endogenous control? - (Apr/06/2008 )

Hello people!

I just discovered this site yesteday and i find it extremely useful.
So here is my firts question:

I am trying to quantify the expression of a locus with different aproaches. First i used Sybr green and now i ordered taqman kit from Applied byosistems, but I didnt buy taqman endogenous control with it (i wanna save some money). Can i use sybr green chemistry as an endogenous control for taqman. (in separate tubes of course, but on the same plate.)

any kind of comments regarding this issue would be very welcome.

best regards

Rok

I see no problem with that, doing it myself too and nobody ever found a reason why not (yup I asked around too before doing it just to make sure I don't miss anything. smile.gif ). Just use the exact same amount of RNA for taq and SYBR and don't start diluting it for one of them or you bring in all those dilution errors.
