Fluoro-conjugated primary with secondary from same host? - (Mar/29/2008 )

Apologies if this has been answered before, but I couldn't find it after several searches.

I'm visualizing actin with an antibody from a mouse host and would like to check for colocalization with a variety of other antibodies. Unfortunately the antibodies of interest are also from a mouse host. A lab down the hall has a mouse anti-actin antibody that is conjugated to Alexa-488. Since that particular antibody is already conjugated to a flourochrome, is it possible to use it in conjunction with another primary from a mouse host? Or would the secondary anti-mouse target both of the primaries, despite the actin being conjugated?

Hi,

I can assure you that the secondary will target both primary antibody.

It is mandatory to use antibodies from different animals or isotypes (mouse igg1 - mouse igg2a for example).
