Loading cell pellet in SDS-PAGE - (Mar/24/2008 )

Does anyone centrifuge the boiled cell pellet prior to loading? Will this treatment give a better separation of the proteins?

Yes, I always spin down my samples before loading (no matter what kind of sample).

how long do you usually spin the samples (in 13.5K rpm)?

Oh, maybe for 10 seconds or something like that, just enough to get the droplets on Eppi lid down.

you will want to centrifuge long enough to remove insoluble material, about 5-10 minutes in the microfuge (depending on sample viscosity or your preference).
