G protein inhibition - (Feb/08/2008 )

Hi!

Is there another way I can eliminate G-protein-dependent signaling other than inhibitors, siRNA and Gq-protein knockout transfected into cells?

We've tried transfecting the G-protein knockouts into MEF cells but only get ~5% transfection... has anyone got any ideas, suggestions?

Thanks! smile.gif

hi,

try using pertusis toxin which inactivates G-proteins except Gq.

Pertussis toxin is limited only to inhibition of Gi, but not G12, G13, Gq and all the other G proteins.

hi,
try using cell lines not having g-proteins like insect cell ines.
