Non toxic H&E staining? - (Feb/08/2008 )

Hi,
I supervise a lab for students in cell culture and I think about an H&E staining with paraffin embedded sections (maybe mouse eyes). Unfortunately, for students it is not allowed to work with very toxic reagents such xylene. So, my question is, whether it is possible to avoid such toxic steps!?

Thanks for any help.
