Does anyone have a particular Primer Design software that they recommend - if I could get the names of a few good free online sources and the names of commercial ones, that'd be so very helpful.

I use primer3 to choose the primer portion binding to a target sequence, and then check the full length oligo (including new restriction sites and overhangs) with the IDT tool for checking primer dimers and hairpins. Only the hairpins or pairing that bind the 3' end with a 5' extension matter.

I would use primer3, is this for regular or qPCR?
