protein storage.. pH? - ideal pH.. near/far pI of the protein? (Jan/29/2008 )

hiii alll..
wat do u think is the ideal protein storage condition.. in terms of pH of the storage solution (and pI of the protein) i mean.. maximum solubility? folding? stability? what else is kept in mind?
and based on these wud storage be near the pI of the protein or away? how away? on theoretical grounds!
and obviously.. why??!

thanku!

ideal depends on the protein.

near the pI is probably not the best because there will be reduced solubility.

we normally store our proteins at around neutral pH (actually, near physiological pH, 7.2-7.5).

yours may differ, you should do a stability-in-storage study if you are having difficulty.
