RNA gel - multiple bands - (Jan/19/2008 )

I've just run an RNA gel (image attached) - why so many bands....?
It was a denaturing formaldehyde gel run (Arabidopsis total RNA extract)

Thanks for your help

It looks like your RNA has degraded. For the good RNA, I only find two bands and the ratio is 2:1.

Good luck.

The RNA looks quite good. From the top there are the 25S, a faint 23S, 18S and 16S ribosomal bands. The two bands below the 16S are often visible in intact plant RNA, but I don't know what they are. There is a little degradation, but I think the RNA is usable.
