protein salt precipitation - (Jan/17/2008 )
I got a new note that protein will not be precipitated by salt in a diluted solution !!! WHY??? i think i am missing some basics here..
precipitation by strong dehydrating salt such as ammonium sulphate; indeed, diluted proteins are more difficult to precipitate as dehydrated proteins tend to aggregate; the aggregates are pelleted, rarley single molecules...
The protein molecules need to meet with each other under precipitation condition to form aggregation that is large enough to be centrifuged down . Low protein concentration is not favorable condition for such interaction to occur.
