gram to dalton conversion.. and WHY? i cud find the conversion on the net.. but why is my main question.. pls explain..!

There are avagadro's number (6.024 E 23) daltons/gram. A dalton is just a unit of mass, like a gram, but much, much smaller (the approximate weight of a hydrogen atom). You can take this as the definition of gram (ideally this will eventually be literally true by giving avagadro's number an exact value). In the meantime, you can take this as the definition of avagadro's number.
