rna ratio - (Dec/14/2007 )

our spec showed 260/280 ratio 4.4.still i did a denatured gel run.then the gel bands without any problem.so for rna what is the ration ? is it 1.8-2 or above 2 .could anybody answer

the way i learned it, the 260/280 ratio for rna should be ~2 (~1.8 for dna).

i was told it should be around 2.

if it's 4.4, perhaps you have ethanol contamination? i don't know, that seems insanely high.

i always get my RNA 260/280 ratio from 2.0 to 2.2

And could you tell please what method/kit are u using. I always gat smt between 1.8- 2.0 and never can improve the quality with quite good Qiagen kits
