IPG strip burned - (Nov/24/2007 )

Hi!

After active rehydration, isoelectric focusing by placing a wet wick under both ends of the IPG strips (AMERSHAM), one of my 12 strips burned. I used a BIORAD PROTEAN IEF for first dimension...

Now I have a slightly 1cm-long burned lane near the anode!

Can I still use the 24cm tray (about 900€) for IEF???? OR shall I buy a new one? Is there might be a thermic problem? OR some loss of IEF capacity?

Has anybody else some experience with regard to this topic?

Thanks for help!

IEF runs with a constant increase of voltage, depending on your power supply, in steps or as a ramp; may be the increase was too steep;

if your IEF module is still usable should be checked by a competent technician
