Miniprep plasmid DNA - How clean is it? - (Nov/20/2007 )

I used the Qiagen kit recently for purifying some plasmid DNA, I'm wondering how pure it is as compared to the maxiprep DNA. Is there any difference in storage requirements? how long will this miniprep DNA last in -20 C? Thanks.

I think the miniprep is quite clean for sequencing but not sure for transfection. If stored in -20C properly, it will last till the freezer breaks down.

Use an endotoxin-free kit if you are going to use it in vivo or on primary cell transfection.

To remove LPS from DNA you can use EndoTrap blue. It is available in different kit sizes. 1 ml resin is suitable for up to 50 ml sample (concentration: 1-10 mg/ml). More information you find on www.endotrap.de
