Blunt or sticky ligation-Which is more efficient? - (Nov/15/2007 )

Suppose both blunt and sticky combinations of DNA and adaptors can happen in a ligation reaction. Will I end up with more blunt ligations or sticky ligations?

Sticky ends are significantly more efficient at ligation than blunt ends.

It would be sticky end ligations.

Just for the sake of argument, one could say both are equally efficient depending on the presence of teh ligase. sticky ends are more energetically favored with or without ligase present whereas blunt end ligations can happen just as efficiently in the presence of ligase... just my 0.02 $.
