protein marker for 2D-PAGE - (Nov/12/2007 )
HI ALL,
i am working on cell lysate proteins of sertoli cells. i am studying proteins by 2D-PAGE. FOR identifying mol.wt. of my proteins, i used bio-rad protein marker. but it is giving smear, no discrete bands in my gel. while my proteins are giving discrete spots after IFE. AM i supposed to use some different marker for gels stained with silver staining after IEF? please tell me if there is some specific marker for 2D-PAGE? waiting for reply.

your protein marker might have got degraded, coz degraded markers generally give smears on gel. No seprate markers are used for 2D gels. In my lab we use protein marker fron NEB or rainbow marker. Try to use fresh marker may be it will work.
