what deos coincentration of one unit per milliliter means_? - (Oct/16/2007 )

HI

i have to prepare one unit per milliliter of CHONDROITINASE ABC in PBS. i have CHONDROITINASE powder (2 unit) ...so what is exactely UNIT is and how can i get one unit to dessolve in 1 ml PBS

In enzymes 1 unit usually refers to the amount of enzyme that will catalyze X amount of substrate in 1 min (i don't know what chondroitinase does, so i don't know the substrate or concentration). If you have 2 units of enzyme in powder, and you want a final concentration of 1unit/ml, I will just dissolve it in 2ml PBS. (2 units in 2ml = 1 unit/ml).

companies differently define "units"; so, if there is no hint on the package, how the company defines "units", ask them directly
