Which 15 ml tubes can withstand 15000xg centrifuge speed? - (Sep/24/2007 )

hi,

Just want to check which 15 ml and 50 ml Falcon tubes can withstand 10000-15000 xg centrifuge speed...

Hi,
For highspeed centrifuges you should use polycabonate or polyallomer tubes, you can also search the type of rotor you are going to use and see which tubes are compatible with it.

10000g is the maximum for satstedt and falcon 50ml tubes (for 30') i don't tested others
16000g for 30' is ok xith sarstedt 15ml tubes (10000rpm in sla600TCsorvall centrifuge = roughly 16000g)

Sometimes, the falcon tubes squashed and changed their shape in very high speed.
