Collagen I SDS PAGE - (Sep/14/2007 )

When I run collagen I on a 4% SDS PAGE gel, I get good separation of protein, but it doesn't run exactly at the expected molecular weight. I've been told this is a common prob with collagen, but they weren't sure why... any ideas? Thanks,

may I ask you about the marker you are using or anything special for the SDS-PAGE?

My poor masterstudent is struggling with a 6% SDS-PAGE (the proteins are ~260kDA). We have tried 2 different markers but the bands dissapper or shift position while running (a big gel and whole day running).

Maybe you have an idea.
