Fast coomassie staining - Has anybody done that? (Sep/07/2007 )

Hi,

I wanted to ask about the protocol for fast coomassie staining? Acutally in my lab, to stain the 2D gels we use silver staining, but it does not give good coverage on MALDI. If we do coomassie staining, it does not give good senstivity, I mean we are interested in looking for low abundance protiens but I don't know how to stain gel to get good senstivity. In coomassie we use methanol, acetic acid and water for fixation and with R250 dye.. we use it. I read somewhere about other protocols, tried one or two but didn't get any good result. Has anybody used the fast coomassie staining,what do we do in that? Please anybody help me in this.
