extractin RNA from cells grown on Matrigel - (Aug/16/2007 )

Hi all,
I need to extract RNA from cells grown on Matrigel.
Usually, when i grow the cells on plastic plates, i first remove the growing media and than add Tri-reagent to the plate.
Do you think i should do the same with the matrigel samples?
Do i need to separate the cells from the gel? How?
Many thanks,
Yoav

Hi,

I think there's a passage reagent which consist of trypsin-EDTA and trypsin inhibitor which can be used for this kind of work.I don't think it's suitable to add tri-reagent to the matrigel.Just a suggestion.Good luck.
