Primers PCR - storage (Aug/09/2007 )

hi,
I inadvertently left my Primers stock at room temp for 12hrs.I always keep it at -20C, but ?I forgot to put it back after aliquoting it.Will these primer stocks be useful.I am worried.

Any suggestions.

Thanks,
NSM

If the primers are in TE (even if they are in MilliQ), I wouldn't worry too much, but I would give myself a clip over the ears for not looking after reagents properly. The best way to check is a functional test. Take an aliquot and run an expt.

i wouldn't worry too much it was the primer stock.

primers are quite stable at rt for such time.
You may write a thick mark to remeber in the future the primer was left at RT but don't worry.

I dont think it will degrade that quick either.

Why not just try to run a PCR reaction and find out?

Quite right, the primers are probably okay. Just give yourself a knock on the head, and remember next time to keep your primers in the freezer.
