qPCR housekeepers - primers or probes? - (Jun/14/2007 )

I am about to start using a probe system (similar to TaqMan) with qPCR for mutation detection. When looking at housekeepers, do I also need to use probes or are standard primers ok?

i have done this for a time.
if you do not have probe for housekeeping genes in hand, you may try syber green. it works ok with standard probes.
however, use sybergreen means you will run your housekeepers seperately(usually you can not run sybergreen programme and a probe programme in the same time on the same machine).

of course, probe for housekeepers are better.
