Isolation of total RNA from whole blood - How much Trizol do I need? (May/10/2007 )

Dear all,

I want to isolate the total RNA from whole blood. How much Trizol should I use? eg. 1ml blood, do u think 0.8ml trizol is enough? I'm afraid the quality of RNA will be affected if the amount of Trizol is not enough.

Hi, I routinely use 250µl EDTA blood, 500µl Trizol and later 100µl Chloroform. It also works if you doubel all amounts. For 1ml blood you should use 2ml Trizol.
