Sodium Butyrate - (Oct/30/2003 )

I am looking to induce a gene by injecting Sodium Butyrate into mice, however I am unable to find what dose I should use.

has anyone injected Sodium Butyrate before in mice ? Or know what the LD of Sodium butyrate is in mice.

It dependents on route of administration.

we usually use 200-1500 mg/kg daily intraperitoneal injection (100 µl) of sodium butyrate dissolved in PBS and made fresh daily.

You may have to do a dose-response study to determine the proper conc. and individualize it based on mouse's weight.
