Bio-Rad experion - is there a manual for this (Apr/28/2007 )

Hello,

We have a Bio-Rad experion RT-PCR system, but the guy who knows how to use it is a real jerk and thinks he has a monopoly on the process. In short he is not helpful and insists on doing the RT-PCR work and getting in on your papers. Is there a good manual/reference for this?

Yes, I'm sure the Biorad website will have all their manuals online for this....

On a side note,

This whole thing of having individuals who have "mastered" various techniques do the experiments for you goes on in the lab I'm in.... I think it is good for everyone to learn new techniques to a certain degree, but I've seen it here where someone has totally gone against that an diversified so much into every technique under the sun that they've been here for 8 years in their PhD and don't have a single pub yet! Something is seriously wrong with that IMHO! I'm the person here who has crawled through the trenches in learning this real-time PCR stuff, and my supervisor now wants me to do the samples for this person -- but I don't want to invade on their territory if they really want to learn it.... these lab issues are always SOOOOOO complicated!

oh i am sorry for your lab issue. i dont know where is your lab, but the lab culture like this is not healthy for good experiments and result. if you really want to do something, learn something i am sure you will find a way. i believe in "there is a will, there is a way" i forget the correct proverb
best wishes
