Lymphocyte proliferation assay - (Apr/13/2007 )

Could some one kindly let me know why people add inactivated spleen cells in the wells when they do LN lymphocytes proliferation assay? Thank you.

my guess is it has something to do with activating the cells??

Usually for alloactivation of lymphocytes. Inactivated cells must be from another mouse stamm (example Balb/c to B6) as the lymphos for the activation.
