Blood RNA extraction - Can the Qiagen RNeasy mini kit extract RNA from blood? (Apr/12/2007 )
Hi there,
I need to extract some RNA from blood. Can the regular Qiagen RNeasy mini kit do the job or do I HAVE to purchase the Qiagen kit that is designed for blood sample? I just need RNA that is good enough for regular PCR, so it doesn't have to be super high quality.
Thanks,
Cindy

Hi Cindy,
we use qiazole first and then mix the aqueous phase wth the same amount of 70% ethanol. You can directly load the RNeasy column with that and proceed to the washing steps. Allways works good for me.

Hi Krumel,
Thx! Just wondering, does it work without qiazole, instead just use the lysate buffer with Beta-mercaptoethanol?

In m hands, the 260:280 ratio allways was rather low...therefor I started using the Phenol step. K.
