I've heard smth my colleague was talking abt, like one gene "titrating out another one", does that make any sense to you?? I do not understand the concept of that kind of titration

i remember titration as the drip drip drip of acid on alkali back in school.
maybe he means one gene is the standard until a threshold is reached and then it switches to the other
