A question about mRNA - (Jun/17/2003 )

I want to know ,when the content of a kind of antibody reaches the highest level
in the body, does it mean that the mRNA expressed it had reached the highest
level either?

There is a direct correlation to mRNA levels and antibody production. This is the basis for the newest wave of molecular based immunoassays (RealTime-PCR, etc) that are focusing on autoimmune responses. It is not a safe assumption, however, to say that a maximum production of antibody is only limited by the mRNA that encodes it. Unfortunately, life's never that simple smile.gif

There are other cell functions and possible limiting components that can effect the level of antibody production.
