glycolaldehyde dimer - (Dec/12/2006 )

Hi, there

I want to use glycolaldehyde, but when I looked for it in Sigma, it is dimer. I am not sure whether there is no monomer due to its instability or not. When dissolved can it change to monomer? Is there somebody ever using it?

Monomer does not exist in commerce.

But monomer do exist. At room temperature and pressure pure hydroxyaldehyde is a clear, transparent liquid of a significant vapour pressure.
