How to solubilize Geldanamycin - (Nov/17/2006 )

Hi,
Has anyone worked with Geldanamycin?
I recently got some from Sigma, and the product sheet said it is soluble in methanol (10mg/mL) and DMSO (10mg/mL). I stuck 1ml of methanol into 1mg of GA and it just won't dissolve. ph34r.gif was very expensive stuff. ph34r.gif am worried. ph34r.gif am very worried!!! sad.gif please, can someone help??
Thanks!

sometimes it takes time and maybe a little bit of heat to dissolve some compounds. if it won't dissolve then you can evaporate the methanol and try to dissolve in dmso.

thanks. i did leave it at room temperature for half a day but that did'nt seem to help. will try heating mildly over a water bath..?

according to info from various sites Geldanamycin is soluble at 10 mg/ml in dmso (may not be the limit) and is also soluble in dichloromethane.

yeah true. but the product sheet says its solubility is the same in methanol (10mg/ml). any chemists here who, from the structure, can tell whether Geldanamycin is heat stable or not? anyway, i dont have an idea to waht extent i can heat to dissolve. room temp certainly does not work. neither does 37oC.
