Separating protein from sucrose by precipitation? - help! (Sep/06/2002 )

hi everyone,

I've been purifiying rafts by sucrose gradients and I need to concentrate the fractions. I've tried acetone and acetone precipitation. However, it seems that the sucrose gets precipitated to form a lower heavy layer along with the protein in the bottom of the tube used to precipitate protein. Is there any way of separating protein from sucrose? I thought people use acetone to precipitate protein and also to get rid of polysaccharide from protein samples for 2-D gel sample preparations. How can I separate protein from sucrose?

thank you!

David
