Not as far as I know. Once they wrote the method up in a paper, it became public domain, and therefore unpatentable.
Here's your homework assignment. Check the US and European Union Patent Offices, and see if you can find it. 1000 words, in my pigeonhole by the end of next week. Or not, whatever you choose tongue.gif tongue.gif wink.gif

i have heard that the siRNA (tuschl) has been patented by Max-Planck. Not absolutely sure !!!

There are numerous patents issued on RNAi. I guess the background patent is owned by Andy Fire and was filed in 1998. Tom Tushl also owns several RNAi patents. For every siRNA we purchase from any company, we have to pay to those inventors.
