Diluting triton in water - (Sep/08/2006 )

you can go up to 10% at least.

I start with a rapidly-stirring volume of water in an overlarge container (so it won't jump the sides if you turn up the magnetic stirrer)

drizzle the triton in. leave it for a while. it will go into solution, shouldn't take too long if your lab is pretty warm

I think it's harder to measure the volume than it is to get it into solution ohmy.gif

I agree about it being harder to measure.

I do the same thing when diluting triton.

Go with genehunter. I would typically make up 50 ml by adding the required MilliQ volume, nuking it for 30 sec, then adding the Triton and inverting a few times. Hey presto, Triton stock in about 1 minute!

Well, if you're going to start a competition... biggrin.gif
I'd usually make 25% Triton by the "microwave and add Triton" method.

Yes, make a high concentration stock and dilute from it seems to be the most flexible and time-saving way to prepare working solution at any concentration that you want.
