questions about native gel - (Aug/30/2006 )

how to know the molecular weight of my targeting protein in native gel? THKs

-beaverzhang-

If it is a gradient gel you can run a MW standard with it, otherwise you can not measure the MW as both MW and charge of the protein contribute to the Rf of the protein.

a simple standard is BSA which builds aggregates in native gels (66, ~130, ~200 kDa and so on, however the larger the aggregates the lower the amount the more difficult to detect)

I see, Thanks!
