Coomassie G-250 vs R-250 - (Aug/22/2006 )

Hi, I have a question to the different Coomassie-Forms (G-250 and R-250): Does anybody know, in what aspects these two differ? So, not really chemical but in my BN-PAGE. Today I made the cathode buffers and wondered, if I could also use the R-250 instead of G-250.

Thanks!

g-250 has almost twice the dye content than r-250

Their structures are different.

Please check link for G250 and R250.

for practical purposes, g-250 exhibits more specific binding than r-250. this means that r-250 is more sensitive for general protein detection than g-250.
