silver nitrate staining - (Aug/01/2006 )

Hi everyone

I am working on plant chromosome spreads and staining with silver nitrate but I am finding lot of problem as they are not staining properly..........
I have tried longer time as well as fresh stain..


Pls give me suggestions

pre casted gels give better staining.
I bought mine from an american company that has given up the production of this staining.
I'm currently searching for a home made protocol that a colleague told me about.
