genotyping SNP assays - (Jul/25/2006 )

I wish to develop a snp analysis using Taqman real-time PCR assays.
Do any of you have suggestions about this?
This methode have the limitations?

thanks
Marta

Hi Marta-

My lab has starting doing this, and so far, we've had pretty good luck using the TaqMan Genotyping Assays and the AB 7300. We put in some known samples, and found expected results for homo and heterozygotes. The unknowns are more difficult at this point, because we are not always sure which assays to use on them to find the alleles - but like I said, this is new to us and we are still learning. Also, I should point out that I was not running the assays, only helping. Anyway, I don't know if this helps you at all, but it might be interesting to keep up a discussion as we both figure this out!

Hi!
Thanks for information.
I have the unknowns samples,I want to analyze only a few SNPs,but I haven't the positive control.
In the protocol I readed that the positive control is optional,it's true?
