Monoclonal Ab is always from mice? - (Jul/13/2006 )

Hello to all! biggrin.gif

Is it true that there only exists monoclonal antibodies from mouse origin?
If we have a goat or rabbit antibody, we can be sure it is a policlonal antisera?

Thanx

There is also some rat monoclonal antibodies.
when you want to make monoclonal antibodies, you use mouse (or rat), because fusion protocols are OK. If you want some polyclonal, you have to take blood, then you use bigger animals, like rabbit, goat and donkey.
I've never heard about rabbit monoclonal antibodies.
I would say there is 99.9% chance that a mouse is monoclonal, and rabbit polyclonal.
