Extinction coefficient - (Jun/26/2006 )

Hi all,

I am working with papain and wanted to know about its extinction coefficient at 280 nm. I searched the internet and found it to be 25 but when I checked through the ProtParam tool of expassy it showed me the value as 56185.

Does anyone know what the exact value of extinction coefficient is for papain.

Regards,
Ansh

what are the units of your 2 values?

The values given on the internet did not have any units. I Checked it by calculating the extinction coefficient on the basis of number of Trp, Tyr and Cys residues and it also gives me a value of 56185 M-1 cm-1. So i think this one should be correct.

Thanks for the reply
