Storing gels . . . - (Jun/02/2006 )

Is there any preclusion to storing a 4M urea acrylamide gel at 4 degrees for a day or two? Other than the possibility of greater water loss, which is a problem with storing gels in general . . . I just want to know if I can prepare these in advance--I've got scheduling issues.

Thanks y'all. cool.gif

for an overnight storing, i put it wrapped with humidified paper, isolated with saran.
For 2 days, i would set up the wholesystem (ie gel casted and immerged in buffer, or with the tanks filled if it's a 2tank-system.
In the last case, i would change the buffer before running the gel.

Right on. Thanks. The paper and bagging option was something I was doing anyhow--I just wanted to be sure the urea wasn't going to pose a problem.

Cheers. biggrin.gif

4M is ok for 4° storage. I wouldn't do that with a è-8M urea PA gel
