question about start codons - (May/31/2006 )

hi.

i had a gene synthesized for me. the company that did this put a start codon at the beginning of the gene. i have subcloned this gene into a vector that has an n-terminal tag (for protein detection). my question is: will this start codon affect the inclusion of this tag in the expressed protein?

It will just code for a standard methionine (eventually for a leucine if it's a cryptic start codon) but will not afect the "adding" of Ntag
