help: why PGK chosen as inner control? - (May/25/2006 )

why is PGK chosen as the inner control when detect the expression of some gene ?

is there any other gene can be inner control?

or PGK is just relatively express with some genes?

THANK YOU~

As PGK is a housekeeping enzyme (glycolytic pathway..) it should be expressed in all cells (more or less equally). Another possibility is GADPH (also glycolysis) or actin (cytoskeleton).

Personally I'd use rRNA as a internal standard, as it is the RNA with the most stable expression in my opinion.

Thank you:)
