extracellular domain from a transmembrane protein, secreted or not? - (May/23/2006 )

I clone and express a whole length of extracellular part from a transmembrane protein, inculding its signal peptide. Will this truncated protein be secreted into medium?

Have you tried concentrating the supernatant? You could just do a quick TCA pptn, and run a gel to see if your protein is there.

How to concentrate the supernatant? What is quick TCA pptn? I have little experience with protein purification thing. Could you give me some details or reference? Thank you very much.
