sodium borate wont dissolve! - (May/22/2006 )

am in the process of making a sodium borate buffer. my recipe requires a 50mM solution of sodium tetra-borate. but it won't dissolve. I've read that the dissolving capacity is 0.1M so from that front it should be fine.

would i be better to try heating it (altho will prob just precipitate again once cold) or leave to stir overnight?

you can heat gently if you are impatient but we just stir until it is in solution.
