hepes solution storage - (May/18/2006 )

Dear labmates,

I have made a 1M Hepes solution, brought up to pH 7.4 with KOH. What is the ideal storage condition? 4C or room temp?

If you buy it pre-made from a supplier the recommendation is 4C but I don't know if its critical. We've always stored it in the fridge.

our solution is stored at RT.

Yesterday I realized just 5 min before my experiment that my HEPES buffer was contaminated, severly, it was stored at RT. But for my case this had some glucose. I suppose RT its fine (if you dont put glucose or BSA on it)

We store it in 4C.
