Mowiol - calbiochem vs. aldrich (Apr/25/2006 )

Hi All,

I need to buy a small bottle of Mowiol for mounting some cells. I noticed that Calbiochem sells Mowiol 4-88 for $68, whereas you can get the same compound from Aldrich for $15 (and free shipping!). Anyone know if there's actually a difference?

I think it might be different MW and polymerization. Sigma sells few kinds of Mowiol.

Aldrich sells many grades of Mowiol, but I would assume that Mowiol 4-88 from one company is the same as another. The other designations have different molecular weights.

The problem is EMD doesn't actually give any useful information about their compound, so it's hard to compare directly. Their info sheet is useless.

I think I'll go with Aldrich - hopefully it works out :-)
