Primer concentration ? - (Apr/14/2006 )

Hi ! I'm just starting out in PCR. Can anyone pls enlight me on the calculation of primers.............. I've come across literatures stating primer concentrations in pmol while I get the stock in uM. How to convert to pmol? Is there any formula available?

Forgive me for asking fundamental questions. smile.gif

Cheers!

µM is a concentration, meaning 10 to the power -6 moles/liter. pmol is the quantity, meaning a total quantity of 10 to the power -9 moles.

Compare with this: you have sugar in water at a concentration of 100 grams per liter. how much of this solution would you need to get 10 grams?... Now apply this reasoning to the primer quantity and concentration...
