what is 5' RACE - (Apr/10/2006 )

Hi everyone... Can anyone tell me what is 5' RACE technique for? if you do not know a sequence of a gene, can you still clone it with this technique? which are the basis of it?
Thanks in advance

hi
basics on that will be coming i think quicker by your own research on google... if you don't have the link, click here.

5'RACE (rapid amplification of cDNA ends) is used to find the 5' end of a transcript. You need to know the sequence downstream of the 5'end because you have to make gene specific primers in order to get it to work.
