pH of 10% SDS - (Apr/07/2006 )

Do you ajust pH for 10% SDS?

-rye-

hi,
y do u want to adjust the pH of SDS? in which experiments u want to use SDS solution with required PH.

i donot do any adjustment, because most of the times pH is required to stabilize proteins and protect cells in biology.
so i dont worry too much about adjusting the pH of SDS, since i donot use for above purposes.
moreover we use low volumes in certain buffers (sds running n transfer buffers) which does not effect over all pH of the solution.

good luck

While I never do that in fact, but just feel interesting with such saying "...ajust the pH to 7.2 by adding a few drops of concentrated HCl..." accordig to <<molecular cloning>>

It is said "ajust the pH to 7.2 by adding a few drops of concentrated HCl" accordig to <<molecular cloning>>

then... adjust the pH ?!

The pH of aquous solution os SDS is acid you must adjust pH to 7 or 8 for molecular biology
